There's just no overlooking how much American culture has affected just about everyone's lives, despite wherever they may be. From the fashion to everyday living, the U.S. has had an influence on practically every part of the world. This even rings true to the very cuisine that we eat. America is referred to as a country where good food can be found, and you are guaranteed to obtain every dish which will fulfill your cravings to no end. Below are just several of the most renowned dishes that Americans, and maybe even you, love.
Buffalo Wings - Who ever thought that mixing chicken wings with some hot sauce would be a tasty treat? Apparently not Teressa Bellissimo, who never knew just how popular her creation would be. Every other chain restaurant in the U.S. has their own take on Buffalo wings, with some making use of distinctive sauces to add more diversity to the taste. In spite of this, the formula remains the same: chicken wings deep fried and then combined with a sweet spicy sauce that just bursts with tanginess! The Polish fix beef short ribs in a sauce made with bacon, onions, and caraway seeds. Texas short ribs are a different thing all together. "The Complete Round the World Meat Cook Book" by Myra Waldo contains a recipe for Texas short ribs made with bottled chili sauce. The book also has a recipe for deviled short ribs. If you're like me, you want to know who is the lone hold out. That prize goes to the chili in a crock pot recipe, which stayed the same. Chicken gumbo remained static too; however it went from 14 servings to only 10 servings while still using the same ingredients. Therefore, its portion size - and calories per serving - indeed grew. While this concept is simple and easy, I would prefer a different method. First, I don't like the idea of a slow cooked chili "on" all day long. I'm sure that some people would disagree, but an "on" device just worries me. Also, I feel that I'm wasting a lot of energy with a device "on" all day long. Beef has always been an easy cut of meat that is never forgiving in the oven. A beef roast prepared in a slow cooker chili cooker, stewing and marinating in its juices will be tender and moist every time you make it. Adding some vegetable and spices in the last hour of cooking will assure a delicious and filling meal. Why not bake some bread from the freezer case at your grocery store and add another amazing aroma to your already mouth-watering meal? The only salad offered is standard but pleasing, with a nutty vinaigrette and queso fresco on top. Less successful is the botana that marries black beans with flavorless yellow rice.
